Meet the Team Behind Freeform
You have found Freeform Laminate & Stone. Home of the best benchtops. Let’s find out what gets us up in the morning… Honestly, most of the time it’s the dog! (he gets hungry)
MARBLE
Also known as - The 6am HUNGRY alarm clock
Marble is often found sleeping on his shift. He wakes up & makes his way to the smoko room, to give his puppy dog eyes.
THE CREW
Counting all heads, we are a team of 22, spread between the two factories, laminate & stone. One of our favourite things coming in each day, is the people. Everyone has a genuine care for each other & the work they produce. In nutshell that’s what gets us up in the morning, coming to work and sharing our day… the highs and the lows, with a great team.
THE OWNERS
Brent & I purchased Freeform in August 2021. It has been a labour of love, mixed with some life lessons and of course some laugh out loud moments. When we roll everything “Freeform” up into a ball and let it go, it bounces. All those little moments push up the corners of your mouth, & you can’t help but smile. After 5 years of searching for “the perfect business” Freeform has definitely been worth the wait.
Our Customers

The Work
We don’t stop at Benchtops! - Freeform offers so much more than just benchtops. We have some very skilled crafts men & women who would love to help bring your designs into reality, we invite you to explore our web site and/or pop in and see us at 9 Watts road.
The History
Freeform has had the recipe for great benchtops for over 30 years, along the way it has been perfected & refined. In the 80’s two local lads, purchased return tickets to Melbourne, their destination, the Melbourne trade fair. Their attention was drawn to a machine which moulded the edge of a Benchtop, heating the laminate & allowing it to curve around the edge. In that moment Freeform was born. They arrived home to Christchurch, began planning & building a machine to replicate what they had seen. To the best of our knowledge, they built the first machine of its type in New Zealand. Their business was then renamed Freeform, giving it a connection with the free rounded form of this unique new edge detail. Like all good things, it had been refined over the years to what we now call a ‘tight roll’, this remains a popular choice with our customers today.
